What is moving - up and down the mountains? People, goods, animals, hay. How does transportation work? What is being lifted? Are alternative uses, constructions possible?

The project started off with the reflection about life in the mountains. Existing means of transportation were researched. The change of life in the mountains was examined. Topics were transportation, safety regulations, sustainable tourism, environment, the cultural area of the Alps and landscape conservation.
After a two-day workshop on the Weissenstein the students developed alternative concepts for transportation in the mountains. They tested hay turning machines by the means of functional mockups, thought up improvements of existing funiculars, discussed their ideas with operators and producers of such funiculars, consulted interface designers. The result was a variety of very different concepts and designs, self-contained approaches concerning the topic of transportation in the mountains.
