Monomaterials…one process, one material, one shape.
Experiments with new combinations of materials and technologies can result in fascinating product solutions. Fascinating because they are minimal and because aspects like process steps, components, ecology, weight or volume become shape-defining. There are products which have made history because of this: the Panton Chair by Verner Panton, Light Light by Alberto Meda, Knotted Chair by Marcel Wanders.
In the project course “Monomaterials” products were developed that could be produced by hydroforming. Hydrofroming is a technology for shaping metal tubes by “inflating” them by means of water pressure.
