Development of combination tools which provide new functionality combinations for specialised artisans, the do-it-yourselfer or the FHNW student.
What is the project about?
It is about the combination of different functions or sequenced manual processes, about handling, saving of space and time and surprising solutions.
It is about the observation of work steps, behavioural patterns and operations. The analysis of these observations forms the basis for the conception and development of combination tools. The functionality had to be precisely defined. Various solutions had to be developed, tested, modified, and constructed. The ergonomics were proved by studies and functional models. With new materials and technologies in mind the students developed new technical details. In this way intelligent and sophisticated combination tools emerged, which can be produced in one shot or in one material.
